Glass & Fabrication Company

Glass & Fabrication Company Business for Sale

Background Information

This business has been in existence since 1970. The current owners have owned it for 20 years. It operates as a Subchapter S corporation. There is no real estate included as part of the sale as the business leases its space.

This is a glass and fabrication company serving Northern New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. The majority of their revenue (65%) is realized through commercial accounts, contract work, and sub-contracting for general contractors. Commercial products include storefronts, sunrooms, commercial entrances, architectural panels, glass railings, awnings, mirrors, and all types of glass and metal fabrication. The remainder of their business is retail oriented, including auto glass repair; sunroof installation; residential window repair and replacement; tub enclosure sales; glass block installation; sun room and skylight installation; and window quilts.

The business was started by the current owner's father in 1970 and he has owned and operated it with his wife for the last 20 years.

The Industry

Residential business activity has waned quite a bit in the last 16-24 months due to the uncertainties and lack of confidence that many homeowners are feeling towards the economy. Commercially, there are enough second homes still being built and good relationships that have been built up by the company to see this segment of the industry continuing to grow. Overall, business has been fairly steady over the past four years and the anticipation is for that trend to continue.

Ways to Improve the Business

The current owners have explored the idea of adding vinyl siding and garage doors to their product line as they are within the direct scope of what they are presently doing.
